Vernon Speed Skating Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing children, youth and adults with the opportunity to participate in the sport of speed skating so that members may learn, enjoy and excel in the sport.

These are parents of skaters who volunteer their time to see that our Club is running smoothly. Please feel free to introduce yourself to them, as they are present at the rink watching their child(ren) skate.
How to Volunteer
The Vernon Speed Skating Club is operated on a volunteer basis and accepts new volunteers all throughout the year. While our main drive for membership volunteers occurs at the Annual AGM in April, parents willing to step up to help at any time are greatly appreciated by everyone. There are many roles and responsibilities our volunteers commit to.

Official Certification
It’s time to get certified! Speed Skate Canada and BC Speed Skating Association are holding clinics near you. If you think you can lend a hand at the exciting competitions around the Province, we want you! Choose from coaching levels to referee certification and more.
These are the positions available for certification:
- Referee
- Starter
- Meet Coordinator/Competitors Steward
- Recorder
- Timer
- Place Judge
- Lap Counter
- Heat Box Steward (Clerk of the Course)
- Announcer
- Track Steward
