Try It Out!
A year from now you will wish you had started today!
Vernon Speed Skating Club offers a one time try it session for FREE, or you can register into our Intro-6 lessons for as low as $170.00. Be a part of the excitement and contact us today.
Please sign up for free with Ice Reg https://icereg.ca/#!/events/948-try-it-speedskating-session before your trial session.
Note: We provide the speed skates, you provide the helmet and gloves.
Our Club has one day, two day and three day training schedules to meet the needs of skaters at all levels of development. Skaters are assessed based on their ability and age, and placed in an appropriate training group. The skating season starts in the first weeks of September and continues through mid March.
If you are interested in learning more about our sport or the benefits of the Vernon Speed Skating Club, or would like to try speed skating, please contact us and we can arrange for you to participate in a practice — or, stop by the arena during one of our practice sessions, we are happy to introduce you to the sport and welcome you to our club. We know you’ll love the fun, friendships and excitement of speed skating.
Schedule
Please refer to our Schedule for practice times and special dates to remember. Please refer to our Calendar for events and competitions.
Learn To Skate
Learn to Skate is our beginner program. This program is developed for skaters, age three and up, who wish to learn techniques specific to our speed skating platform. The focus is on skill development using fun and challenging agility activities, and the lessons help foster a skating passion for life. We follow the SSC Pin Program and test skaters at the end of the season each year.
Competitive
Our competitive group is based on learning to train and training to train, with a focus on specialized skills and racing techniques. Skaters vary in age, but abilities are similar, creating a good practice environment for developing skills necessary for competition. This group can participate in Regional Competitions throughout the Province. This is also a great level for youth cross training—many skaters in this group are active in multiple sports.
Masters
Our masters are active skaters for life. The level of participation from this group depends on skating experience and ability. Master skaters (age 18 or older) can join as adults learning to skate or as competitive members. Vernon Speed Skating Club provides a discount for masters as an incentive for them to continue skating for life.Latest Blog Posts
